Impact

In an effort to not only greenour supply chain but for it to also be entirely made up of women-owned micro-businesses, we started sourcing Handmade, eco-friendly paper made by women who have disabled family members for our cards exclusively from 2018 from Sri Crafts a rural co-op developed by a government agency, Vavuniya District Economic Advisory Service Unit.  Buying a single card now enhances the lives of more than two women.

In 2018, we provided  4390 flexible hours of employment to women-headed households paying a living wage. From December 2018, 50% of the bus fare incurred to get to work was added to the payment.

4000 hours of employment provided in 2019 paying our full-time employees a steady, dependable monthly salary + 50% of bus fare + New Year bonus.

Our Empowerment Center was closed from Mar – June 2020 due to the pandemic. We managed to pay our full time employees 60% of their monthly salaries for the 3 months.  As the pandemic struck again and again we set up our employees to work from home. Even though we couldn’t sell at outdoor markets and events we managed to secure bulk orders and with the support of friends who bought our cards and donated generously our employees and paper suppliers never missed a pay check.
