The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. Green Dreams Women works to support this inititative by focusing on the following goals.
With the unemployment rate of women being twice that of men in Sri Lanka, it is imperative to empower women so that they can support themselves and their families. We not only employ women, but also offer support for victims of the civil war and abuse.
All proceeds of Green Dreams Women products go toward employing women in Sri Lanka who had been left without living wages after the civil war. Income from their skilled work provides them a means to take care of themselves and their families.
By facilitating an environment for women to perform meaningful, creative work that also provides a decent livelihood, Green Dreams Women hopes to fight unemployment and stimulate economic growth in Sri Lanka.
Green Dreams Women is proud to source recycled paper for our designs from Sri Lanka. No raw material is ever imported during this process, with local plants and fibres used to strengthen and dye the paper.
